The Programs
of Akah National Union, USA
Preliminary Steps
to Actualizing Akah Investment Project (AIP)
First Step: To
determine the actual population of Akah people in the U.S. by
March 2007.
The objective is to
maintain an up to date database of all Akah origins including their
children and use the information for determining the ability of ANU
to engage in the investment project. All branch presidents should
maintain a database of all Akah people in their regions, updated
quarterly, and make their listing available to the national body.
Second Step: To
Collect a One-time Investment Contribution from Members
The objective is to
maximize the benefit of the population of Akah people in the U.S.
All sons and
daughters of adult ages (working adults of 25 years old and above)
will be required to make a one-time investment contribution of an
amount to be determined towards the seed money for the startup of
the investment program between January and September 2007. An
invitation might be extended to all Akah origins resident in other
countries like Canada, S/A, Britain, Nigeria, etc. to participate in
the one time investment contribution. A crowd is the pride of a
king. A larger number of participation/membership reduces the burden
of investment. The proposal will be circulated in Akah forum,
inviting interested parties to submit their interest/contributions.
Akah Investment
Program (AIP)
Akah people in the
U.S. have learned that investment is the key to wealth. The Jews are
what they are today because they learned very long ago to put
investments into action. Investment provides the investor with
wealth. With investment, ANU has got money, and will as a result
gain worldwide Economic Power, Political Power, and Social Power.
The simplest strategy
with long-term results is to use our numerical strength to raise the
seed money for initial investments in commercial properties in the
USA.
How? Assume a
population of 1000 sons and daughters of Akah people in the
USA/elsewhere
A
one-time Levy of $1000 to $1,500
Total
Startup Capital of $1,000,000 to $1,500,000 will be raised
General Benefits

members with business loans
ANU can bring any
number of Akah citizens to the U.S.
ANU can insist that
Akahland should become the next capital of Nigeria
ANU can boast of
giving jobs to its members
ANU can turn the
Akahland into a modern Sacramento, Baltimore, or Dallas of Nigeria,
ANU will have a
direction to grow bigger and bigger
Benefits to
Members
Members who buy
interest in the AIP by making a one time contribution of an amount
yet to be determined are titled to specific benefits.
To be a member of the
Akah Investment Project (AIP), an Akah citizen or any other person
or organization must have paid a one-time contribution of an amount
to be determined based on the population of Akah people in the US. A
member must have been vested in the investment project prior to
enjoying the benefits of the project. To be vested means that a
member has made the one-time contribution at least six months
earlier.
The ANU Investment
Program may make a personal or business loan to a member by holding
a lien on the member’s asset(s). The maximum amount of such a loan
shall not exceed $50,000. No member shall owe the Program an amount
in excess of $50,000 at any one time. Such loans will depend on
availability of funds at the application time.
Small loans in the
maximum amount of $2000 to $5000 may be extended to a member who is
in an urgent need for cash. The term for such a loan shall be no
more than 180 days at an interest rate of 50 percent of the going
rate.
ANU Investment
Program may at its discretion enter into a partnership with a member
or any other person or organization in a business that is overseen
by any tier of the government (County, State, or Federal), if such a
person or organization presents a clear and convincing business plan
that indicates a high potential for success.
Organizing our
services to our communities in program formats will help in solving
the problems our people have been facing, and offer them in return
quality lifestyles and longevity. I therefore plead for your moral
and material support so that in the end, we shall all tell our
stories about how our land became modernized, peaceful, and united.
Akah National
Union Primary Programs
Among the primary
programs ANU will develop and implement as tools to combat poverty,
illiteracy, and to modernize the rural communities of Akah are Micro
lending; Vocational, Business, and Technology Education; and
Modernization programs. Described below are the three primary goals
and objectives of the ANU programs:
Goal #1: To Provide
Micro Capital to Mom and Pop Businesses
Objective: To combat
poverty. Consistent with the saying “teach them how to fish…” is the
concept of making micro enterprise loans (microcredit) to the poor
members of Akah communities who have no access to bank loans. The
micro loan system could be implemented with as little as $10,000 for
providing business capital in the amounts of $50 to $100 to members
of the community who already have a business or know what business
to engage in, but due to lack of a mini capital, they sit idle and
end up as beggars. About a year ago, a young man approached me while
I was on a visit in Nigeria for an assistance of 1,500 Naira
($12.00) to repair his commercial vehicle that was grounded for over
two months because of a minor mechanical problem. This young man
made no income for the two to three month period. He has five
children and his wife has been deceased .Young adults of 18-30 years
of age who would have chosen to engage in violent activities and/or
joined gangsters would benefit from such a program. As part of the
micro lending program, training in entrepreneurship and marketing
will be offered. That way, young adults would be presented with life
of hope and opportunity. Several jobless university graduates will
be trained to be consultants and sales persons.
Goal #2: To Equip the
Youth with Survival Skills
Objective: To reduce,
if not, eliminate Ignorance and instill good citizenry values among
children and young adults in the communities of Akah using
vocational, business, and technology training as tools. ANU will set
up a center where vocational, computer, a business training will be
offered to the youth ranging in ages of 15 -30 years of age. The
curriculum will include masonry, painting, landscaping,
entrepreneurship, computer hardware repair and maintenance, typing
and use of various types of software. Also, training in business
organization, management and leadership will be among the areas to
be emphasized. Scholarship will be awarded to qualified
participants, while others will be charged nominal fees for the
program. This objective includes replacement of inefficiency with
modern leadership and management techniques within the region of
Akah. For example, training community leaders, business owners, and
students on planning, transparency, and accountability will be made
a core part of the curricula.
School outreach will
be used in visiting area schools and interacting with students in
elementary and high schools. Such areas as patriotism, moral issues,
and civics will be the center of discussions with students.
While it takes a
village to raise a child, it equally takes the world to free a
community from poverty, illiteracy, and “disdevelopment.” For this
reason, ANU will attempt to gain all kinds of support from its home
base, the United States of America, the World Bank, and the
multinational corporations like Shell Development PLC of Nigeria and
Exxon Mobil Oil Company. Once one community is emancipated from the
menaces of poverty, illiteracy, and backwardness, the rest of the
country of Nigeria will be set free on the basis of one community at
a time.
Goal #3: To Make Akah
Communities a Mini London
Objective: To
modernize Akah land by changing the mindset of the people from that
of consumption and extractive economy to productive and
community-oriented mentality. ANU shall use its community
development projects in implementing and/or installing such
infrastructures as modern networks of roads, drainage systems, as
well as community planning techniques. This objective will seek the
support of government agencies like the local, state and federal
governments. It is true the best thing to do for a hungry person is
to feed the person first, and then give them hope that they will
feed forever. Under this objective, training and school outreach and
modernization of the community will result in multiplication of
jobs. Retired teachers and civil servants and new school graduates
will find jobs that will keep them busy and help them make positive
contributions to the communities. Human flight or mass exodus of the
youths to unknown foreign countries will reduce if it does not
completely disappear.
Expected Outcomes
- Such social
problems as smoking marijuana and using illegal drugs will
be reduced by over 30- 60% within the first 2 years of program
implementation
- Over 45-64% of
young adults in the communities will abandon membership in
violent gangs and/or other law-breaking groups or clubs
